Sonos Beam (Gen 2) $499.00
The Beam lets you enjoy music and movies with big, detailed sound and gives you smart features like voice control.
Powered sound bar/wireless music system with Dolby Atmos®, Apple AirPlay® 2, and built-in voice control (White)
Updated for 3D audio
Every time Sonos releases a new product, it makes quite the splash here at Sound World. Their sound bars have been a big hit with our customers, and now Sonos is updating their compact Beam with even more advanced sound processing.
This second-generation Beam keeps everything that made its predecessor so successful and adds support for uncompressed, high-quality surround sound formats like Dolby Atmos for an even deeper, wider soundstage. Movie night just got more exciting.
Faster processing, bigger sound
This sound bar's upgraded CPU is 40% faster than the original Beam's. This increased processing power enables two additional audio arrays for enhanced clarity and depth. It has the same number of speakers as the original Beam, but they can all act independently to create 3D sound effects.
The Beam (Gen 2) uses psychoacoustics — the way our brain processes sound in three-dimensional space — to map and project effects so they sound as if they're coming from above or behind you. Its five built-in speakers steer the sound effects for a greater sense of accuracy and immersion. Track sounds as they move in three dimensions, from a helicopter hovering overhead to bullets zipping from one side of the room to the other.
The Beam can be paired wirelessly with a Sonos Sub to create a 3.1 home theater system. Add a pair of Sonos ERA 100 speakers as wireless surrounds, and you've got a full 5.1 system for wraparound sound.
The Beam connects to your TV's HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) port with an included cable. If your TV doesn't have this kind of HDMI connection, Sonos has included an adapter cable for connecting to your television's optical digital output. Either way, you can send sound from your connected TV to other Sonos speakers all around your house.
Connect with Sonos
The Beam (Gen 2) is a part of the Sonos wireless multi-room ecosystem, which means you can group it with other Sonos speakers to stream music throughout your home. The Sonos app has an intuitive interface that makes it easy to play whatever you want, wherever you want .
You can play the same song everywhere at once, or different music in each room. You're only ever a couple swipes on your phone away from a house filled with music. Start up the Moana soundtrack in the living room for the kids, and you can still jam to Soundgarden in your office after a long day at work.
Built-in voice control
Both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are built-in, which lets you play your favorite tunes with just the sound of your voice. You can even use the sound bar's voice control to give commands to other Sonos equipment it's connected to. A far-field microphone with echo cancellation makes sure your instructions come through clearly. You can play more than music too. Both voice assistant platforms can snag recipes while you're cooking, give you weather updates, help you shop online, set alarms, or control other smart devices in your home.
Stream with AirPlay 2
Apple fans are in good hands. AirPlay 2 lets you stream from an iPhone® or iPad® and connect the sound bar to the AirPlay ecosystem. If you're a subscriber to Apple Music®, you can also use Siri to control and play that service with your voice too.
Match your sound to the room
If you have an iOS® device, you can calibrate the sound bar using Trueplay™. This lets you use your iPhone or iPad to match the bar's sound settings to the specific shape and acoustics of your room. This feature measures how sound reflects off your walls, ceiling, and furniture and optimizes it to fit the space.

You also have access to thousands of radio stations with TuneIn and iHeartRadio. And if you subscribe to SiriusXM, you can listen to all your favorite programming on any Sonos player in your system.

SONOS ARC $899.00
Sonos sound — now in 3D
Sonos makes some of our most popular and well-reviewed sound bars, so I'm really excited to see them expand their lineup with a Dolby Atmos-capable bar like Arc. Its streamlined cabinet houses an impressive eleven drivers, including custom elliptical woofers for rich bass. Side-firing and up-firing speakers team up with advanced signal processing to create a multi-dimensional soundstage full of depth and detail.
Voice control options
Arc has both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built in, so when you want to play your favorite tunes, all you have to do is ask. And your assistant of choice can do more than just play music. You can ask for weather and traffic updates, create a shopping list, set reminders or alarms, and control connected smart home devices like lights and thermostats — all with your voice.
Don't miss a word
Many of us struggle to hear dialogue over the background noise in our favorite shows and movies. Arc can help with that. In addition to a dedicated center channel, it has a Speech Enhancement option that can help make dialogue more intelligible, so you don't have to turn on subtitles to keep up with the plot. This feature is accessed in the Sonos app.
Add the optional Sonos Sub and surrounds to complete your wireless home theater.
Wireless home theater
Arc is going to be a huge improvement to your TV's audio all on its own, but I like that Sonos gives you the option to expand the system as your space and budget allow.
If you want to add more deep bass rumble, pick up a Sonos SUB Gen 3) (or even two). It will make a big impact on both movies and music.
Add a pair of Sonos One SL speakers as wireless surrounds, and you've got a very robust home theater system. Everything connects to the Arc wirelessly, too, so you only need to plug them in for power.
Expand to other rooms
As a Sonos speaker, Arc can be part of a larger multi-room audio system. Expand into other rooms by adding a Sonos oneor the larger Five, in every room where you want to listen to music. Or, you can even go portable with the more rugged, battery-powered Move. You can set up the players to work on your existing Wi-Fi® network.
Or, you can connect any Sonos speaker to your network router, and Sonos will create its own dedicated wireless network for even better performance. You can also use a Boost to create this network if you can't place a speaker near your router.
